Named after Clayton, Ohio the hometown of the area's first postmaster, John George, Clayton is a mixed residential neighborhood within the city of Surrey, B.C. A primarily agricultural area, some of which is still evident today, Clayton has seen much expansion over the years.

Schools that are located within Clayton are administered by the Surrey School District. The district serves students in Surrey, White Rock and the rural areas of Barston Island. Formed in 1906, the Surrey School District features the largest student enrollment in the Province and is one of the few growing districts within British Columbia.

Offering education for students in the Clayton area from kindergarten through grade twelve, the Surrey School District strives to provide excellent education for its schools as well as a safe and inclusive learning environment, where all students feel welcomed.

Schools within the Clayton area include:

Hillcrest Elementary School is located on 65 Ave., in Clayton and serves students from kindergarten through the seventh grade. There are approximately 580 students who attend Hillcrest Elementary throughout the school year where they enjoy a well rounded education complete with a number of extracurricular programs.

Adams Road Elementary School is also located in the Clayton area and welcomes students from kindergarten through grade seven. Just over 400 students attend Adams Road Elementary yearly.

Located on 188 Street, Clayton Heights High School provides classes for students within the Clayton area from grade eight through grade twelve. The school sees nearly 1,300 students throughout the academic year. Pupils attending Clayton Heights High enjoy a range of programs, courses, extracurriculars and more.
